MINNIE WATER - WOOLI NIPPERS

(JUNIOR ACTIVITIES CLUB)

Welcome to the 2008/09 Season: Those wishing to join this season are reminded we need Age Managers and helpers on the beach or our activities just will not happen! Anyone interested in helping out please contact Peter Young (6642 9929) or Anne Langford (6644 7394).

Below are some of the important details that parents and Nippers should be aware of, for the upcoming season.

A parent or responsible adult must be present on the beach at all times during Nippers.
New members must have proof of age, and 85% attendance is required throughout the season to be eligible for Club championship.

Caps must be worn at all times during Nippers and removed when Nippers is finished.
Nippers are reminded that points will be allocated to them, with regard to their attitude and behaviour at Nippers. Nippers must inform their age managers before leaving their age group. The Club will do its best to adhere to a time schedule with regards to Sunday morning Nippers, but please be aware that surf and weather conditions can cause unforeseen changes. Rainy and overcast days can sometimes cause confusion. Any changes will be placed on the roadside between the Pacific Highway turn-off and the Airport road at Glenugie and age managers will be notified also.

Ages

Nippers is the name given to the junior members of the surf club. They are aged 7 years and up to 14 years . Nippers start learning about Surf Life Saving and Surf Awareness through the Surf Ed program. Becoming a nipper is an important first step to becoming a Surf Life Saver. Emphasis is on participation and fun.

Codes of Behaviour

Parents Code.

Do not force an unwilling child to participate.

Remember, children are involved in Nippers for their enjoyment, not yours.

Encourage your child to always play by the rules.

Teach your child that honest effort is as important as winning so that results are accepted without undue disappointment.

Help your child with skills development and good sportsmanship. Never ridicule or yell at your child for making a mistake.

Children learn by example. Applaud all good efforts from any competitors.

Do not publicly question an officials judgment and never their honesty.

Recognise the value and importance of volunteer coaches. They give up their time and resources to provide our children with these recreational activities.

Competitors Code.

Participate for the fun of it, not to please your parents or coach.

Play by the rules.

Never argue with an officials decision.

Control your temper.

Work equally hard for yourself and your club. Your club will benefit and so will you.

Be a good sport. Applaud all good efforts by yourself or a competitor.

Treat all competitors, as you would like to be treated.

Remember the aims of the club are to have fun, improve your skills and to keep healthy. Don’t be a show off.

Co operate with your Age Manager, your coach and team mates, for without them we don't have a Club.
