MINNIE WATER - WOOLI NIPPERS

(JUNIOR ACTIVITIES CLUB)

Information 2010/11 Season

Welcome to the Minnie Water - Wooli SLSC Juniors for the 2010/11 season.

Those wishing to join this season are reminded we need Age Managers and helpers on the beach or our activities just will not happen! Anyone interested in helping out please contact Peter Young (6642 9929) or Anne Langford (6644 7394).

We would like to welcome the many new families as well as previous nippers and their families to another season.

Our aim is to introduce our juniors to the surf by teaching them the many facets of surf awareness and surf safety in a friendly safe environment. We encourage the children to improve their skills by participating in various activities.

The Club runs a Surf Education Programme which provides instruction on Beach & Water Safety skills eventually leading to the Surf Rescue Certificate (the pre-requisite to Certificate II in Public Safety- previously known as the Bronze Medallion).

Please note, the Club does NOT teach swimming

Our success relies on the commitment and willingness of parents to assist in the running of club activities whether on the beach, running the BBQ or helping out with fund raising activities. This year the Club is focussing most of its fund raising activities on the building of a new clubhouse leaving little funds available for the purchase of new equipment for our growing junior ranks. The more assistance we receive in the way of fundraising, the more resources we can provide in the future for our youth.

Our normal activities are held at Minnie Water beach on Sunday Mornings. Please arrive by 9.45am for marshalling at 10.00am. Occasionally we may relocate to the river at Wooli when prevailing weather conditions prohibit activities on the beach (look for signs at the Minnie Water Turnoff on Wooli Road).

Our Events Include:

  • Swimming
  • Board Paddling
  • Wading
  • Beach Sprints
  • Rescue & Resuscitation
  • Beach Flags
  • Iron Person
  • Novelty Events
  • Surf Education Program

We encourage all junior members to become involved in surf patrols as cadets, eventually becoming fully qualified lifesavers. We try to accomplish this to the best of our ability whilst providing a social, fun environment for the whole family.
